SANID campaign launches an electronic initiative under the title “#Friends_of_UAE_Detainees” with the aim of bringing attention to the suffering of political prisoners in UAE prisons as part of its efforts to defend the rights of Emirati political prisoners.
The initiative includes videos from activists and human rights defenders around the world in which they call for political prisoners’ release from UAE jails.
While many around the world enjoy the holiday season, 60 political prisoners continue to languish behind bars despite the end of their prison sentences.
Indefinite detention is a direct reflection of the UAE government’s continuous and systematic oppression of political dissidents.
The Emirati government must recognise its constitutional responsibility to uphold and respect human rights by unconditionally releasing all those held behind their release dates without further delay.
Take action and join “Friends of UAE Detainees” by sending us videos calling on the Emirati authorities to release human rights defenders and activists ahead of Cop 28, scheduled to be held in Dubai in November 2023.
